Here are some more important Virtual Reality terminologies which are an integral part of the VR landscape. 

10. Refresh Rate

Refresh rate is the time taken to refresh images. If the VR app refreshes 60+ images/frames a second, then you can expect an immersive VR experience.

11. Simulator Sickness

Simulator sickness is caused by a conflict between sense receptors.  This usually happens because of video lags, and may lead to nausea.

12. Image Distance

Image distance is the perceived distance between the particular virtual reality object in the virtual world and the user.

13. Spatial Desync

Spatial Desync happens when your movement in the real world and the virtual world are in different directions or when virtual space has a different setup than the real space. For instance, if there is a table in the real world but an empty space in the virtual world, then it leads to spatial desync.

14. Immersion

Immersion is used to describe the experience where the user thinks he is physically in the virtual world when he is actually in the real environment. 

15. Motion Platform

Motion Platform is a well-controlled physical system that makes a user feel that he is moving in the virtual world but he is not actually moving in the real world. A treadmill or special socks are used to create this amazing experience.

16. Stitching

Stitching is a process of combining different videos from multiple sources into virtual content for providing the virtual experience. A poorly stitched VR video provides the ‘hall of mirrors’ effect.   

17. 360-degree Video

A 360-degree video is a video that provides a 360-degree view of the surrounding. This is similar to the experience provided by the Google Cardboard apps and YouTube 360. This is less immersive compared to virtual reality content.

18. Mixed Reality

Mixed Reality is a combination of augmented reality and virtual reality. This experience is created using highly advanced VR and AR gears with advanced camera units. It creates a blend of virtual space into the real environment, which brings life to the digital elements.
